Today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the Mahayuti alliance on their historic victory in Maharashtra and cautioned those who lose sight of their basic principles in the name of "opportunistic politics."
PM Modi described the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance as something that was thrown together at the last minute for self-serving motives at the BJP headquarters in Delhi, where hundreds of supporters had gathered to celebrate the victory in Maharashtra.
"The plot devised by the Congress and its allies has been thwarted by the people of Maharashtra. In reference to the necessity for a stable and secure administration free from outside pressure, PM Modi stated, "Maharashtra has delivered a verdict: ek hai toh safe hai is India's mantra."
PM Modi said the Congress can no longer win elections on its own, and whenever it loses, the party drags others down as it sinks, referring to the numbers in Maharashtra.
"The Congress is all about the family. No matter how much hard work a party worker puts in, the family will take all credit. There are many senior citizens who have seen the old Congress. They are searching for it today," PM Modi said.
Of the 288 assembly seats, 236 were won by the Mahayuti or National Democratic Alliance (NDA), while just 48 were won by the MVA, which included the Congress, Uddhav Thackeray's Shiv Sena, and Sharad Pawar's Nationalist Congress Party.
However, the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), the Congress, and Chief Minister Hemant Soren's Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) held the INDIA stronghold in Jharkhand, which the NDA was unable to penetrate.
